Meet Michael
My Running Story
I took up running at the age of 18 in a bid to lose weight and discover the long-lost fitness of my sporty childhood. Despite initially struggling to run the mile around the block, by the time I moved to Brighton for university I was hooked and my journey had begun.

Years later, having joined a wonderful training group, completed countless races and worked in the running industry for over a decade I've experienced a huge improvement as an athlete. My personal bests across all distances have improved year on year - with much more to come - and I now feel more confident, stronger and fitter than ever before, both in running and in life. I've met new friends, raced overseas and had so many brilliant experiences.

I run on roads and trails and predominantly focus on getting faster over 5 and 10K. I have also trained for longer distances and have medals from 5 marathons and a 53-mile ultra-marathon.

As a coach, I love to use my knowledge and passion for the sport to help others to improve. To express your fitness through running well is a joy. Too many runners lack the knowledge to train and move effectively and therefore risk injury, or losing motivation when progress ultimately plateaus. Running Retail Expert
Outside of my coaching, I've worked in speciality running retail for over a decade and have successfully managed two stores in Brighton: Sweatshop and Run Company. I now work as a Brand Trainer for distributor Fit Brands, supporting specialty running brands Karhu, CEP, Balega and CURREX. I've also spent time previously working as a brand ambassador for outdoor specialists adidas TERREX.

This has of course involved fitting running shoes daily, and in the process I've consulted literally thousands of runners about their training, and analysed their stride pattern. It's clear many of us are in some bad habits! Too many runners run with poor technique and a lot of us lack a full understanding of how to train effectively for a chosen outcome. It's therefore no wonder that running is often so closely associated with injury, but it doesn't need to be this way.
Using these experiences, I can help you move better, set sensible targets, and structure your training in a way that will lead to sustainable, long-term improvements.
