Runner Testimonials

I love to see others improve. Take a look some of my recent athlete testimonials below..

I cannot recommend Michael enough, he has been an amazing coach to work with. The running programme has been clear, well structured and excellently explained. When giving me workouts Michael has explained why I am doing each session and what the key benefit is of each one. I have improved dramatically since working with Michael and know that this is largely down to having his direction in my training. Michael is always on hand to answer questions and be supportive if needed. If you're looking to get better at running or want to take the next step to achieve your running goals then don't look any further than Michael. I know the PBs will keep on coming!

- Joe Sykes, coached predominantly for some fast 5 and 10K running. We focused on understanding the fundamentals of training before taking on Joe's first marathon.

Michael was so helpful to me when I wanted to work towards a faster 5K time. The sessions he planned were hard work but rewarding and gave me lots of confidence. Michael’s plans reminded me to run easy for good recovery too.  Every week Michael gave me feedback which was really encouraging, motivational and guided me in how to improve. Thank you Michael.

- Helen Block. We focused on getting Helen faster over the 5K with parkrun soon to return after lockdown, and in doing so build confidence and speed ahead of a marathon training block.

Hi Michael! I wanted to let you know that - using the training plan you wrote for me between January and March - I ran the Dublin Marathon in 3.38 today. Credit to you for your thoughtfulness and attention to detail in writing the perfect plan for me, and your advice generally. The thing I'm most pleased about is that I ran the second half quicker than the first, which is something I remember you saying should be the aim.

- Henry G, coached in preparation for marathon running.

Edinburgh marathon complete. Funnily enough, my finish time was near identical, (5hrs28 instead of 5hrs30 haha) but thanks to your advice I feel great afterwards. I finished comfortably, enjoyed myself, and really experienced the event instead of just brute forcing it and hurting myself, so thanks so much for all your help in that session, it's really been the gift that keeps on giving.

I'm gonna take a year (at least) off of marathons, and I'm probably going to set my sights on doing better over shorter distances. Maybe try and get a sub-2 at a half next year. But I'll definitely be calling you up for a session once I have a goal in mind, because I really feel like I accomplished what I set out to do this year thanks to you.

- Leo Aram-Downs, who booked a one-off technique and training consultation mid-marathon training block.

Michael is absolutely fantastic - his training guides are splendidly detailed, his responses to questions are supremely knowledgeable, and his plans really do work! 12/10, will run with again.

- Sam H, coached in preparation to take the Royal Navy Pre-Joining Fitness Test, which he ended up comfortably passing within a few months.

"Michael Michael Michael! What training plan have you created? What can I say.. Dropping my 10 x 400m average splits by a whole 10 seconds, in very hot weather, was the best feeling to have. Honestly can't thank you enough for me being able to see such progress being made!"

- Sushant Chudal, who aimed to rediscover the lost motivation, fitness and speed of a few years prior.

"I've trained with Michael for several years now with a local running group. Michael was very welcoming and went out of his way to say hello when I first ran with the group. He is incredibly enthusiastic about running and inspiring others and is effusive in his encouragement to all."

- Chris Morgan, local athlete and training partner.

"I'm so happy as I just smashed my 5K time! It was nice to notice my legs feeling stronger and quicker than usual, even in the rain. Yay!"

- Neringa Gedvilaite, who wanted to return to her running in a more structured way that focused on incorporating speed-work into her training.
